Should we fix things to bump to v8 instead? it's live for 2 weeks it'll only get worse.

that was my assumption when I saw it sitting there for a while now. I know other hybrid SDKs needed a version bump because of the API level change.

@jamescrosswell do you know what's blocking android sdk v8 update or is it just that you haven't had the time to look into it yet?

The later - I haven't had time to look into it yet (and we don't desperately need anything from it).

OK so I'll change this PR to draft until it's decided whether the v8 update needs another major version
