In the paper we propose a novel mapping of the granular HS (Harmonized System) 6-digit codes of products related to the electromobility revolution, i.e., a gradual transition from the production of vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICEVs) to the production of electric vehicles (EVs). The mapping distinguishes three groups of products, depending on their technological affiliation:
- Electric-specific products which contain both intermediates used exclusively in EVs production, as well as finished EVs.
- Combustion-specific goods which include intermediates solely related to the production of ICEVs, as well as finished ICEVs.
- Neutral products which include parts that are required in the production of both EVs and ICEVs as well as hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) passenger cars. Finished HEVs and PHEVs are also contained in this category.
In addition, the classification includes information on whether a given product is an intermediate or final good.
