Here's a very rough first draft (if you could even call it that), mostly just a few paragraphs, for a TUGboat article.

Here's a suggestion for the structure:

  • Introduction: background, motivation maybe.
  • Introduce Moloch: write about important features, show examples of how to use and configure. Maybe these things are worth mentioning:
    • Progress bars
    • Color theming
    • Title pages
  • Differences between Moloch and Metropolis and how do users transition?
    • Typography (paragraph spacing, font handling)
    • Colors
  • Maybe mention the PDF/HTML documentation system? I guess it might be interesting for some?

What do you think, @samcarter ?

I had a quick look and the basic structure looks great!

I think including the documentation system would be interesting -- in particular for package authors. There are already other packages who do something similar, but a package like pgf/tikz is so complex that reusing their workflow isn't easy for everyone. You have a nice "typical" package, which others can use as an example.

(I'll read the actual text tonight)

Great, thanks! I'll work some more on the text until then.
