Randomizer Settings
This page should help describe what each setting in the Randomizer does...
The seed is the basis of all the randomization in the game, and is simply a number. If two players were to use the same seed and settings, they should experience the same game with all the items in the same locations. If no seed is entered, a random seed will be chosen for you. The seed can be checked on the menu screen during gameplay.
These settings are related to the "spell lessons" you take before doing the challenge level for each spell, where you hit arrow keys in time with your wand moving around the spell shape.
This setting determines how the arrows are randomized in the spell lessons.
-
Vanilla Arrows: The arrows are not changed at all, so you will be entering the same patterns from the original game.
-
Existing Arrow Chaos: Each arrow in the pattern is randomized to a completely randomly selected different arrow direction. The increased levels of the lesson will not continue the same pattern from the previous level of the lesson.
-
Full Arrow Chaos: An entirely new, chaotic, pattern is generated. Every position in the pattern can have any arrow direction, or be a break. Note that this option is completely absurd and is unlikely to generate something good. Hope you enjoy chaos!
-
Existing Arrow Consistent: Each arrow in the pattern is randomized, but each direction arrow will be consistently replaced with the same new arrow direction (eg. All left arrows will become up arrows). The increased levels of the lesson will not continue the same pattern from the previous level of the lesson.
-
Chaos Pattern: A single pattern is generated based on the length of the final difficulty of the lesson. All arrows are switched to a completely randomly selected different arrow direction. Each incrementing level of the lesson will continue the same pattern, so you learn it with practice (as in the original game)
- Spell Lesson Wand Speed Min/Max %: This determines the limits of the speed adjustment the Randomizer may make to each spell lesson. The default 75% minimum and 150% maximum mean that each spell lesson could be only 75% the original lesson speed (making it easier), or as fast as 150% speed (making it much harder). Note that the speed of each lesson is determined individually - some lessons could be slower, others could be faster.
These options set the odds of each family of items getting shuffled within each map.
-
Spawner Rando %: This is the items that, when interacted with, spit out items. This includes things like chests, cauldrons, and knight armour. Note that this also includes mixing cauldrons.
-
Loose Item Rando %: This is the items that are sitting around loose in levels, such as jellybeans, chocolate frogs, flobberworm mucus, wiggentree bark, and wizard cards.
-
Knick-Knack Rando %: This is purely a decorative randomization and shuffles items like small boxes, books, bottles, etc.
These options randomize things related to "vendors", the students who will sell items to you, as well as students who want to duel you.
-
Vendor Swap %: The chances of each vendor (either item or duel) having their vendor item (what they're selling, or the duel level) being shuffled to another vendor.
-
Additional Vendor Locations: Enabling this option adds additional locations for vendors to be placed, which increases variety a bit more.
-
Vendor Price Min/Max %: This is the range that vendor prices can be randomized within (The cost of the item can be reduced or increased to these percents of the original prices). These price randomizations are applied to each vendor individually, so there might be better deals from different vendors!
-
Duel Prize Min/Max %: This is the range that prizes from duels can be randomized within. This means that certain duel levels may be more profitable than others!
These options relate to randomization of the quidditch matches.
-
Bludger Damage Min/Max %: These settings determine the range of randomization of the amount of damage the bludger will deal to the player.
-
Bludger Speed Min/Max %: These settings determine the range of randomization of the speed of the bludgers in the quidditch match.
-
Bludger Range Min/Max %: These settings determine the range of randomization of the range at which the bludger will begin chasing the player.
-
Bludger Pursuit Time Min/Max %: These settings determine the range of randomization of how long the bludger will try to chase the player.
-
Seeker Recovery Rate Min/Max %: These determine the range of randomization of the speed at which the enemy seeker will recover their health after being incapacitated.
-
Seeker Dmg Penalty Min/Max %: These determine the range of randomization of the amount of damage that the enemy seeker will take from damage by the player (both bumping into them and kicking them).
-
Seeker Kick Interval Min/Max %: These determine the range of randomization for how quickly the enemy seeker is able to kick the player.
-
Seeker Kick Damage Min/Max %: These determine the range of randomization of the amount of damage that the enemy seeker will deal to the player.
