Closes #210

Give a longer description of what this PR addresses and why it's needed

Issue: When switching locations, the dynamic range would reset.

Fix: Now, dynamic range persists across location switches.

Provide pictures/videos of the behavior before and after these changes (optional)

Here's an example of switching locations, where high dynamic range is persisting:

  • actually, just make the one if statement more clear what the condtion means (e.g. only set if no value has been set)
