OSS-focused engineer with ~20 years building scalable, resilient platforms. Denver-based. Ruby-first. I like clean systems, boring reliability, and tools that quietly delete friction.
Most of my open-source work lives under @TwilightCoders—a collection of Ruby gems and utilities I've built to solve real problems in Rails apps and developer workflows.
I maintain a suite of ActiveRecord extensions and Rails tools:
active_record-mti— Native PostgreSQL multi-table inheritance for ActiveRecordrubysu— Give Ruby objects superuser privilegesenumerate— True enumeration support for ActiveRecorddeleted_at— Soft-delete with database persistencequick_count— Fast record counting for large tables- ...and many more
Building tools that make development workflows better:
- 👨🏼
✈️ claudepilot— Mobile app that gives you on-the-go access to your running Claude Code sessions on your dev box. "Code" from anywhere. - 💻
alterminal— An alternative terminal for VS Code - 💎
gemplate— Self-referencing Ruby gem templating - 🧰
ergane— Lightweight, powerful CLI tools in Ruby - 📆
GCalSync— Google Scripts app for syncing two Google calendars
Home-lab / bare-metal curiosity: FreeNAS/TrueNAS plugins, Hackintosh configs, and "know-the-whole-stack" builds. I like understanding the system end-to-end — from hardware to production behavior.
I'm into overlanding and real estate — the same "ship-it, make-it-sturdy" mindset, just applied to trucks and properties.
I believe simple, elegant systems outperform complex ones. I'd rather write 50 lines of clear code than 200 lines of "enterprise-grade" abstraction. The best software disappears — it just works.
